Registration & Enrollment
Enrollment Process
A child must be a legal resident, living within the boundaries of Nicasio School District, to enroll in Nicasio School. All students enrolling in Nicasio School must provide the following completed documents prior to their first day of attendance in order to register:
- Proof of Residency (Refer to: New Student Registration Checklist)
- Annual Declaration of Residency (pdf form)
- Nicasio School Student Registration (pdf form)

- Birth Certificate (original or certified copy) or Passport for verification of age.
A child is eligible for public school kindergarten for the 2012-13 school year if he/she will be five years old on or before November 1, 2012.- Health Examination Form for School Entry (pdf)

Inter-District Transfer
New Requests
Nicasio School is open to accepting a limited number of students from outside the district. Applications received for a specific school year already in session will be reviewed by the Board as they are received. Applicants can expect up to a month's waiting period for a response once the District has received the request.
Requests for inter-district transfer related to an upcoming school year must be received by the District office no later than June 1st in order to be given priority consideration for fall enrollment. The Board will review all inter-district requests at the regular school board meeting held in June. Please note that the Board may not be able to approve all requests at the June meeting. Uncertainty about fall enrollment may necessitate the Board carrying over such requests until its regular meeting held in August. Any requests received after June 1st will also be reviewed in August, but will not have priority consideration.
The Process: The inter-district transfer request process begins at the student's district of residence where parents/guardians may pick up and fill out an Inter-District Transfer form. This transfer request must first be approved by the student's district of residence. Once approved, the student's district will then forward the form to Nicasio School District for its consideration. Since school boards only meet once per month, this process can take time. Students intersted in applying to Nicasio School for the next school year are encouraged to get the process started as soon as possible to ensure that the form reaches Nicasio School's District office by the June 1st deadline.
Renewals
Students already enrolled in Nicasio School based on an inter-district transfer agreement must submit an Inter-District Transfer Request form on an annual basis to request a renewal of their transfer. These requests must be received by Nicasio School no later than March 1st for early consideration for the following school year. This early deadline ensures that our current students and families have priority over new inter-district transfer requests. Requests received after the March 1st deadline may not be reviewed until the the regular Board meeting held in June along with new inter-district transfer requests.
