Site Council members are your representatives. Let them know your thoughts and ideas.

Site Council is a representation of the larger school community, consisting of up to six members (three parents, two staff, and the principal). With the exception of the principal, each member serves a two-year term.

At the start of each school year, vacant positions are announced and letters of interest are accepted. In the event that there is more interest than there are open positions, an election is held.

The role of Site Council is to identify common goals for the school and to develop and maintain a school plan to acheive these goals, particularly in the areas of curriculum and instructional practicies. Nicasio School's Strategic Plan serves as the school plan overseen by Site Council.

To guide its oversight of the Strategic Plan, Site Council conducts an annual comprehensive school survey, gathering information from parents, staff and students. This survey addresses a variety of topics such as: curriculum, homework, fieldtrips, condition of school facilities, school administration, and communications. Site Council also prepares recommendations to the Nicasio School Board based on survey results.
