On May 1st the Nicasio School Board trustees heard this presentation by Marin Municipal Water District’s general manager, Ben Horenstein, and project engineer, Elysha Irish. MMWD has approved a project to modify the Nicasio reservoir’s spillway, which would increase the water elevation level by over 4 feet and negatively impact our school with potential flooding and permanent standing water on our campus. I am working with Marin County Office of Education superintendents to learn more about our rights and how to protect our school. I am also working with the Nicasio Landowners Association and we have many advocates in our community who oppose this project in its current state. MMWD ha aprobado un proyecto para modificar el aliviadero de embalse, el cual incrementaría la elevación del nivel de agua sobre 4 piés dando un impacto negativo hacia la escuela debido a la inundación potencial y agua permanente en el campo escolar. Estoy trabajando con los superintendentes de la Oficina de Educación del Condado de Marín para aprender mas sobre nuestros derechos y cómo proteger nuestra escuela. También estoy trabajando con la Asociación de Dueños de Propiedad y tenemos muchas personas en nuestra comunidad quienes se oponen a este proyecto como se ha presentado.
